2021 Senedd Elections
JACKIE JONES SELECTED TO STAND AGAINST SENEDD MEMBER AND WELSH CONSERVATIVE LEADER PAUL DAVIES IN PRESELI PEMBROKESHIRE .
Welsh Labour Party members in Preseli Pembrokeshire have selected Jackie Jones to stand against Paul Davies, leader of the Welsh Conservatives, in the Senedd elections later this year.
Commenting on her selection, Jackie said:
“I am delighted to have been selected to represent Welsh Labour in these important elections. It’s a real privilege to stand in an area of Wales where my father’s family is from. They were salmon fishermen and fisherwomen. My great, great grandmother’s picture hangs in the Senedd – she was a Llangwm fisherwoman, travelling to Fishguard to sell her fish at market.
“Preseli Pembrokeshire needs a strong voice in the Senedd. We must overcome the challenges that have held our county back and rebuild a green economy that we desperately need. Since becoming Welsh Tory leader, Paul Davies has put the leadership of his Party first. With your vote at the next election, I look forward to putting the real needs of our communities forward that improve our communities and the lives of people in our area.”
Welsh Labour Leader and First Minister Mark Drakeford said:
“Jackie Jones will be a powerful voice for communities across Preseli Pembrokeshire as a member of the Senedd. She brings great commitment and experience from her time as a law expert, charity volunteer, university lecturer, trade unionist and former elected representative. Importantly, she will be fearless in standing up for people who need help in the face of this pandemic. The Tories in Wales have resisted the action we have taken to keep Preseli Pembrokeshire safe. These communities deserve better.”
